Deborah Van Kleef is a singer, activist, teacher and songwriter based in Cleveland, Ohio. Raised in a labor union household, where Weavers records were played daily, Deborah has been immersed in folk music and political activism for most of her life. She has appeared throughout northeast Ohio, as well as New York, Washington, DC, and California, at coffeehouses, concerts, festivals, schools, libraries, conferences and special events.

Deborah was featured on the award-winning documentary, “Woody Guthrie: Hard Travelin’,” which aired on over 160 public radio stations throughout the United States. Her song, “The Great Fast Food Strike,” was premiered by Pete Seeger at the historic Carnegie Hall concert marking the 50th anniversary of Smithsonian Folkways Recordings. Work In Progress is her first recording.
